Mississippi Senators Cochran and Wicker are both running this year.
May 20, 2008
For the first time I can ever remember, we have both of our U.S. Senators running in the same election cycle. Senator Roger Wicker was appointed by Governor Haley Barbour on December 31, 2007 after former Senator Trent Lott retired. He is running against Ronnie Musgrove in a special election to fulfill the unexpired term which will end in 2012. Senator Wicker needs your support in this special election. We need to send a message to the rest of the country that even though MS-01 messed up and elected Travis Childers, we won’t do the same with our U.S. Senator on November 4th.
Senior Mississippi senator Thad Cochran is also running for reelection. His contender is Erick Fleming who you may remember ran against Senator Lott in his last election. Senator Cochran was elected in 1972 and served three terms until he was elected senator to replace the late Big Jim Eastland. He was the first Republican senator to be elected since reconstruction. All one has to say is “Thad” in Mississippi and you know exactly who they are talking about.
Please check out the web sites of both Senator Cochran and Senator Wicker. Sign up for email alerts, volunteer some time, and contribute. These are critical times in our state and country and we need proven leaders that have conservative values.
