Charlie Daniels speaks on socialism on his soapbox of 5/19

I have noticed some people who are developing a somewhat permissive attitude toward socialism and I personally think it’s dangerous.

Socialism is like a snake; it can creep silently in and stay around until the opportunity to bite comes along. Socialism is one of those things that sounds good on paper but never has and never will work out in practicality.

Socialism sounds like a noble Robin Hood, share and share alike proposition where all the money goes into one pot and is distributed by a central government which makes the decisions about what you get and what you don’t get. Read more

Mississippi Senators Cochran and Wicker are both running this year.

May 20, 2008

For the first time I can ever remember, we have both of our U.S. Senators running in the same election cycle. Senator Roger Wicker was appointed by Governor Haley Barbour on December 31, 2007 after former Senator Trent Lott retired. He is running against Ronnie Musgrove in a special election to fulfill the unexpired term which will end in 2012. Senator Wicker needs your support in this special election. We need to send a message to the rest of the country that even though MS-01 messed up and elected Travis Childers, we won’t do the same with our U.S. Senator on November 4th.

Senior Mississippi senator Thad Cochran is also running for reelection. His contender is Erick Fleming who you may remember ran against Senator Lott in his last election. Senator Cochran was elected in 1972 and served three terms until he was elected senator to replace the late Big Jim Eastland. He was the first Republican senator to be elected since reconstruction. All one has to say is “Thad” in Mississippi and you know exactly who they are talking about.

Please check out the web sites of both Senator Cochran and Senator Wicker. Sign up for email alerts, volunteer some time, and contribute. These are critical times in our state and country and we need proven leaders that have conservative values.

Senator Hillary Clinton D. NY and presidential candidate, wants to steal the election.

May 17, 2008

I receive email updates from various candidates to see what’s going on. I received this email asking for support in her trying to steal the election. Personally, I hope she’s successful.

Dear David,
Michigan & Florida - Make Sure They Have a Voice!

Millions of voters in Florida and Michigan are depending on you to help make sure they have a voice in this race. Will you stand up for them today?

Thanks to your efforts, thanks to the hundreds of thousands of people who have already spoken out, the DNC’s Rules and Bylaws Committee is meeting May 31 to make a decision about whether or not the votes in Michigan and Florida will count.

Now I need you to urge the DNC to make the right decision on May 31. I need you to remind them that in the Democratic Party, we count every vote. Read more

Country Rocker Charlie Daniels weighs in on national politics

Politics Today

Charlie Daniels

I can remember some awesome Presidents during my lifetime. They were by no means perfect and made mistakes, but all in all they were real leaders who did not govern by a poll in the New York Times and truly held the welfare of the nation ahead of the welfare of any political party.

Franklin D. Roosevelt, who lead this country through some of the most difficult financial times we’ve ever experienced, who led us out of the Great Depression and led us through the darkest days of the Second World War. The man who said, "The only thing we have to fear is fear itself."

Harry S. Truman, the implacable little Missourian who ended the war and saved untold lives by dropping the only atomic bombs ever used in battle. The man who said, "The buck stops here." Read more

U.S. Representaive Tom Davis writes memo on “Where We Stand Today” in the GOP.

May 17, 2008

I found this on another favorite blog of mine. Sid Salter is the perspective editor of the Clarion Ledger and is a good read.

This is a long read (20 pages) but well worth the time and effort. If the Republican party wants to survive, it must move back to it’s conservative roots and stop playing footsies with left wing radicals.

Memorandum

To: Republican Leadership

From: Tom Davis

Re: Where We Stand Today

The loss of three straight special elections, in once solidly Republican districts cannot be explained simply by “bad candidates”, or by being out-organized. They are canaries in the coal mine, warning of far greater losses in the fall, if steps are not taken to remedy the current climate.

These races were not in New Jersey or New England, where Republican erosion has taken place over the last decade. They were in the heart of the Bible Belt, the social conservative core of our coalition. These are areas John McCain will win easily, in November, but a Congressional GOP brand tied to George Bush is struggling.

In Illinois, our flawed candidate was the hand picked choice of Speaker Hastert. In Mississippi, there was no lack of effort by the NRCC and loyal 527s to resurrect a second place finisher to a run-off victory. In Mississippi, the GOP had a destructive primary with regional fissures. Senator Wicker’s support was tepid, at best, and the DCCC ran all-out. Historically, special elections trend slightly against the part of the President.

You’ve always been the best sister in the world.  God bless you.

Okay, back to the business at hand.

May 16, 2008

Tupelo, MS

It’s been a wild and full week.  It all started with the state of Mississippi Republican Convention in Jackson last Friday, May 9 and lasted until Saturday, May 10. Lots of fun to be had there. It was good to see a lot of old friends and to make the acquaintances of some new ones. I’m thankful we live in a country where we can meet and share our beliefs no matter if it’s politics, religion, or to talk about our kids. It was funny that many asked where my son was. My son will be 9 on May 29th and usually goes with me everywhere. When asked where he was one time, I replied if it were possible for me to go somewhere without him from time to time. Their answer was that I almost never have before. Anyhow, Josh stayed home this trip and Dad made the trip alone.

On Monday, Governor Barbour, Lt. Governor Bryant, and Mayor Greg Davis were in Tupelo for lunch at Todd’s Downtown (or is it Uptown, I can never get it right but they offer some of the best food you’ll ever eat) on their way over to Oxford and on to Southaven where they were with Vice President Dick Cheney. An opinion from Oxford on the 1st Congressional District race

May 15, 2008

This came from one of my all time favorite political blogs. Y’all Politics is a great site.

Bear with me, I am not one to post regularly and I appreciate Y’all Politics for providing the forum, but this time I honestly felt compelled to weigh in on the topic of Davis, his campaign and the way ahead.

BTW, he is lucky to get a second chance, and be able to correct his mistakes. I can think of a bunch of loosing candidates that would love to have that second chance to get it right, myself included.

Past candidates like Andy Taggart, Hayes Dent, Dunn Lampton and myself never had it so good, doing a whistle stop tour the day before the election with the GOP Gov, Lt Gov and Jr. Senator and Thad doing radio for you, absolutely never seen a candidate with so much opportunity… Read more

Former Mississippi Governor William Winter is a hypocrite.

May 14, 2008

Tupelo, MS

Former Mississippi Governor William Winter laid the law down to Greg Davis and said he was out of bounds with condemning Travis Childers for receiving the endorsement of Borack Hussein Obama. Mr. Winter, where was your condemnation when the DCCC and Childers played the race card with a lie and called Greg Davis a member of the KKK? Why are you not sounding off now?

Didn’t you at one time gladly admit your middle name was Forrest and named after the famed General that started the KKK? But I realize that folk’s political views change from time to time or do some politicians role play for the sake of the political race?

The lies out of the DCCC and Childers playing the race card should be condemned by all of us but it seems the outrage is purely hypocritical on Mr. Winter’s part. I just tend to believe if you’re going to stand for something, stand for it all the time. Don’t be a liar about it.

Politics as usual or politics at it’s dirtiest?

May 14, 2008

Tupelo, MS

Was the recent special election in MS-01 business as usual or are we now seeing a trend in politics?  This has to be one of the dirtiest races, starting with the Republican primary, that I believe I’ve ever seen.  Who fired the first salvo is still argued and is still without merit.  Someone has to be the better person and take the high road.   The two top GOP candidates started early and often and it continued through the democratic primary.

Davis condemning Childers for the endorsement of Obama.  Childers calling Davis a member of the KKK.  Where can it stop and will it continue through the general election in November.  It’s sad to think, we have to hear this again all summer.

Hey Borack Obama,,, how many states are there?

May 9, 2008

I’m in Jackson, Mississippi now for the state Republican convention as a delegate from Lee County. Just had to post this when I found it tonight. Click the link to hear Obama.

You can’t get anymore stupid than this.  Are you smarter than a fifth grader?

The Price of Gasoline versus Printer Ink

May 7, 2008

And you think gasoline is high???

All these examples do NOT imply that gasoline is cheap; it just illustrates how outrageous some prices are….

You will be really shocked by the last one!
(At least, I was…)
Compared with Gasoline……
Think a gallon of gas is expensive?
This makes one think, and also puts things in perspective.

Is democrat presidential candidate Borack Hussien Obama a Marxist?

May 7, 2008

Obama’s Marxist Axis Of Friends

By INVESTOR’S BUSINESS DAILY | Posted Monday, May 05, 2008 4:20 PM PT

Election ‘08: Barack Obama wishes questions about his associations with Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Bill Ayers and other radicals would end. But maybe the reason they won’t is that there’s a pattern: Marxism. It’s not hiding.

When one looks at Obama, it’s shocking how radical and anti-American his closest associates are. Taken separately, the black liberation theology of the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, or fundraiser William Ayers’ unrepentant past as a 1960s terrorist or Obama’s openly pro-Che Guevara volunteers in Houston might be dismissed. Read more
